Hello Unexpected, Alo Creativo

Alejandro López is the founder and creative force behind the Design Brand Alo Creativo and. I discovered his amazing work on Instagram and I reached out to him to get an idea about his incredible work. Here’s what he had to say.

Object Of Reference: What's at the core of your projects and your brand?

Alejandro Lopez: The essence of my brand and my projects is the responsible mix of styles, always with a classic base but very inspired by trends. Something that my latest projects have in common is the use of colour and materials to convey vanguard.

OoR: Tell me a little about yourself. What is your background and how did you get involved with design? AL: I have considered myself a creative person since I was a child. I have always loved drawing, architecture and painting. Studying interior design was a natural step I took when choosing my studies.

While I was studying at the university, I started my collaborations with some companies and that allowed me to start my portfolio very soon. Once I finished my studies, I started to work on my own, first on small projects and, over time, more ambitious projects. All of them very interesting.

OoR: Where do you get your inspiration from?

AL: The source of my inspiration varies. I find great inspiration in classical architecture and in the architecture of the 50s. Masters of design such as Le Corbusier or Mies Van Der Rohe accompanied me throughout my time as students. Currently, I find a lot of daily inspiration in blogs, photography books and especially, traveling.

OoR: Do you believe in following the rules when it comes to design, and if so, what are these rules in your projects?

AL: In the design there should be no rules. Each client is different, which makes each project also different. But there are three laws that I like to comply with in each project. 1. Respect customer needs. 2. Reinterpret your needs from a creative point of view. 3. Be innovative and take into account current trends.

OoR: What would your advice be for someone who would like to get started in this industry?

AL: You should see the design as something more than just a profession. Design accompanies us everywhere, surrounds us day by day. It is very easy to interpret what the world offers us and then turn it into a design, an idea or a concept. Try to develop your own style, personality and work hard. And above all, defend your work.

OoR: You have worked on many different elements of design, from creating the visual identity for brands, to interior design. How easy do you find it, to work on these different things, and what are the common elements?

AL: Whether designing a visual identity for a brand, capturing this visual identity in an interior design project, or rehabilitating a home, the objective is the same: you have to captivate the client or the user following a visual communication language. The design should not only convey a concept but should arouse a feeling to the viewer. Either with graphic design elements or with the use of colours, textures and materials in interior design.

OoR: What would be your dream project to work on?

AL: Any project is a challenge. There are no good projects, but good customers. A good client will always let you make the project something truly unique and special. But my goal is to be able to develop my projects abroad.

OoR: What are you currently working on and what are your creative plans for the

future?

AL: We are currently working on several residential interior design projects, which we can share very soon. We are participating in several artistic direction projects too, which we love. In the future I would like to be able to develop my own furniture line.

Check out all of Alejandro’s work on his website and on his Instagram. And don’t forget to share this blogpost with someone who would love it.
