Serene interiors by Mireille Wehbe
Mireille Wehbe’ s interiors and her furniture designs, favour the key periods of the 1920s and 1930s. If she does contemporary, it is always with a weighty dose of history and references. Mireille’ s interiors are serene and elegant. An eclectic, curated selection of works by international designers underscores the couture approach with sobriety, balance, comfort and modernity being her key words. She conceives each project as a work of art. Loved for her unique ability to merge the residential requirements of a domestic space with often large scale visual art, sculpture and installation pieces, her studio is working on projects in the UK and across Europe as well as in the Middle East. Her Instagram page @form_follows_function includes pieces from worldwide designers which is very inspiring.
Fascinated by her work, and wanting to know a bit more about her creative world, reached out to Mireille and this is what she had to say.
Object of Reference: What’s in the core of your designs? Mireille Wehbe: As a designer, I always create interiors and pieces with long lasting value and glamour.
Object of Reference: Tell me a little bit about you and the brand. What is you background and have you always wanted to be a designer?
Mireille Wehbe: I am London-based designer, 29 years old, I am both interior & furniture designer. Beyond the profession of interior architect and furniture designer, I offer “curated stories” interiors, artistic and full of meaning, but also warm and responsive to the lives of the occupants. My vision is above all, that of a lover of art, passionate about design. For each project I write a new story, giving it greater conceptual value.
Object of Reference: What is your source of inspiration you? Mireille Wehbe: The Art Deco period is one of the periods which has always fascinated me, it has both glamour & sophistication in the same time with clean lines.
Object of Reference: Do you believe in following rules when it comes to design, and if so, what are these rules in your designs? Mireille Wehbe: Every visionary must break the rules first. In general, if a client loves something, I will always find a way to make it work.
Object of Reference: What would your advice be for someone who would like to start in this industry? Mireille Wehbe: Don’t start. Just be. Because we are who we are. It’s very easy. If you need to get started then this isn’t for you. You either have it or you don’t.
Object of Reference: What are you working on at the moment, and what are your creative plans for the future? Mireille Wehbe: Our studio is working on new residential projects, and also on the production of new collection of bespoke furniture.
